Restaraunt "Saray-Bar"

Shymbulak Resort Hotel presents the Saray-Bar restaurant. We offer a varied menu of  international cuisines such as Kazakh, European, Russian, Uyghur, Uzbek and Ukrainian. Even the most demanding connoisseurs will be delighted to taste the assortment of local dishes.



In our restaurant you can enjoy an authentic Uzbek pilaf, cooked in a huge kazan (Uzbek wok) on the fire, delicious manty (dumplings), and shashlik (barbecue) of lamb, pork or duck breast. We bring “saxaul” firewood from Eastern Kazakhstan to achieve the unique taste of our shashlik. This tree's coal has the best heat and gives the meat a unique, delicious flavor. The combination of  fresh mountain air, fabulous landscapes, and Saray-Bar's shashlik becomes a true gastronomic event.

Guests of Almaty come to Saray-Bar restaurant just to try our special sweet-sour Ukrainian borsch, a taste that can not be repeated by any restaurant in the city. Regulars of the restaurant love our salyanka soup cooked in the Kazakh way from beef tongue, kazy (horse meet), and smoked and boiled beef. For many tourists an interesting exotic dish is manpar - Uighur soup with beef, vegetables and dough pieces.

We recommend you do not neglect the gentle and nourishing dishes of fish which can be steamed or grilled over saxaul charcoal. Try our trout with onion sauce, dorado or sea bass with noble sweet chilli sauce. Choosing seafood, do not forget about their gastronomic alliance with wines. For example, royal grilled prawns is an ideal pair with Santa Cristina rose wine.

For hot starters pay attention to horse meat medallions, which come with mozzarella and a salad of warm, spicy green lettuce and beef. The perfect option for 4-5 diners would be assorted fish: salmon steak, baked seabass, dorado and trout, or the meat platter: duck and chicken fillet, beef and horse meat tenderloin, and lamb steak. All assorted dishes are served with a side of delicious grilled vegetables or potatoes.
Indulge yourself with a snack or pastry - tiramisu or cheesecake, raspberry tartlet or Liège waffles with berries and ice cream. And be sure to ask the waiter about the magical mountain tea. It has more than 30 kinds of plants collected in the vast Trans-Ili Alatau. This tea has a subtle floral aroma and is well known for its healing properties.


Cocktail menu
Whiskey, gin, tequila, cognac, brandy, rum … the cocktail menu includes the world's classic spirits from leading manufacturers. Saray-Bar's wine menu presents white, pink and red Italian wines from the Antinori winery in Toscana and the Prunotto winery in Piemonte. The beer menu has draft beer (Stella Artois, Zhiguli barnoe) and bottled beer (Bitburger drive, Corona extra, Heineken). By the way, the lamb "seeds" (fatty ribs roasted on the grill) is an ideal snack with beer.

The cozy restaurant has the homelike and pleasant atmosphere of a resort vacation. The inner walls of the halls are decorated with timber panels in pastel, blue-green colors and are accented with a variety of elements from the Soviet past. As with any “shed” (translation of “saray” in Russian), we collect rare vintage items. Our tourists especially enjoy the huge busts of Lenin and Kunaeva, who silently consent to pose for selfies.
The style of the big glass hall is part chalet, part hunting lodge: massive beams and wooden furniture headline burnt wood and large panoramic windows with beautiful landscapes that allow you to fully experience this mountain realm! Natural wood, ancient Kazakh carpets, and fur bedding all make the atmosphere warm and sincere.


Here you can have a rest with friends after an active walk in the mountains or skiing on snow-covered slopes, get a glass of hot mulled wine or something stronger, enjoy the excellent shashlik taste (which, thanks to the constant igniting of the barbecue, you will be served a maximum in 20-25 minutes), smoke flavored shisha and enjoy a gorgeous view. Different themed culinary events take place on the outdoor terrace of Saray-Bar restaurant, such as the manty-party, shashlik party, pilaf day, etc.



Capacity of the restaurant is 50 seats and a VIP room with a balcony is 12 seats. The big glass hall capacity is 80 seats (buffet format accommodates 120 seats). Open terrace - 100-120 seats.

Saray-Bar is a great place for meetings, conferences, lunches, children's parties, all kinds of banquets and events.


In addition to the main menu, the chef offers special courses for banquets such as kuyrdak (Kazakh roasted meat with vegetables), syrne (a gentle aromatic lamb with stewed vegetables), beshbarmak (Kazakh meat platter), as well as duck with apples or salmon, baked in foil.
